» Sudbury Rocks Marathon

On Sunday May 4, 2008 the YMCA hosted the Sudbury Rocks Marathon Race, Walk or Run for Diabetes. The event is a
Boston Marathon
Qualifier as runners come from as far as South Africa to run the race.

This year the cold Sudbury weather added an additional challenge for both runners and volunteers. Advantage Physiotherapy participated by offering pre and post race care. Many runners were thrilled to get a massage or treatment after the race.

The races ranged in distances from a full marathon (42 km), a half marathon (21 km), 10 km, 5 km and a kids run of 1 km. Proceeds and pledges from the Sudbury Rocks!!! Race, Run, Walk for Diabetes will support research and local programs of the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Thank you to all Participants, Volunteers and to all who pledged ...together we made the Sudbury Rocks Race, Run, or Walk for Diabetes a HUGE success!

» Teddy Bear Picnic

Cambrian College transformed their Student Centre into a Teddy Bear Den on Sunday November 16, 2008. Local Business donated customized Teddy Bears for auction with proceeds donated to support pediatric cancer research. We were extremely happy to be part of such a worthwhile cause and such a fun day. Over 100 Teddy Bears were auctioned off with games and snacks offered to children and parents who attended the event. It was a huge success and fun day all around. It is definitely a must see if you have not been.

We will continue to support this and similar events in the Sudbury area and are proud to be part of such a giving community. As a side note, “Max” our Advantage Cub raised $50.00 for the cause. Way to go Max!
